Ian Mclellan is a Level 3 certified personal trainer in Alloa, specialising in weight loss, body fat reduction, and body confidence. Based at PureGym Alloa, he helps adults across Alloa, Tullibody, and Sauchie align their mental and physical health through pragmatic, sustainable coaching.

Ian's own training journey didn't start in front of a barbell — it started after being diagnosed with anxiety in his twenties, the result of years of neglecting both his physical and mental health. He needed something pragmatic to manage it. He found the gym, and fell completely in love with the way training quietly puts you back in charge of your body and your head at the same time.

Do I need any gym experience to train with Ian?
No, you don't need any gym experience. Ian started his own journey from scratch and tailors every session to where you are right now — whether that's day one or year ten. Most people who walk through PureGym Alloa to train with him have never had a structured plan before. That's the easiest place to start.
What's a free consultation actually like?
It's a no-pressure conversation at PureGym Alloa where you tell Ian what you want to change and he tells you honestly how he'd help. About 20 minutes. No commitment to book afterwards. You'll know within the first 10 minutes whether it feels right.
How long until I see results?
Most clients notice changes in mood and energy within two weeks, and physical changes by week six. Ian focuses on small consistent victories rather than dramatic transformations that don't last. Slow change is real change — and the kind that sticks once you've moved on from the plan.
Can you help with the mental side of fitness?
Yes — this is central to how Ian works. His own training journey began as a way to manage anxiety, so he understands deeply that physical and mental health move together and treats both as part of every plan. Confidence in the gym translates very quickly into confidence outside it.
Where exactly do you train?
All sessions are at PureGym Alloa, Candleriggs, FK10 1EA. The full gym floor is available — strength equipment, cardio, free weights, and functional space. You'll need a PureGym membership to train with Ian inside the gym.
What if I'm not sure what my goal is?
Honestly? Most people aren't, and that's okay. The consultation is partly about figuring out what you actually want — sometimes "I just want to feel better" is the whole goal, and that's enough to build a plan from. You don't need to arrive with everything mapped out.
